About Celtic Deaf Festival

Celtic Deaf Festival is a not-for-profit event held every year on the weekend after the August Summer Bank Holiday.

The festival was originally founded by Fiona Morgan, Bill Davies, and Elin Williams:

We are now proudly registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC).

This year, the festival is directed by Emily Rose Corby:

who'll be acting as Festival Director—marking an exciting step forward as the event becomes fully Deaf-led, with most of our team being Deaf themselves. You can learn more about them on our Our Team page.

Celtic Deaf Festival is exclusively for the Deaf community and for those who communicate in British Sign Language (BSL) with their friends and families. It’s a vibrant celebration of Deaf culture, Deaf language, and the joy of music—especially that deep bass we all love!

We also warmly welcome hearing locals who wish to learn about Deaf culture, get involved, and help build bridges between Deaf and hearing communities.

Enjoy a weekend full of:

🎪 Camping under the stars

🎤 Incredible Deaf performers

🎶 Live music bands

🎨 Outdoor activities and entertainment

🎲 Community fun games for all ages

🍔 Delicious food vendors

🤝 Socialising with old friends and new faces

🛍️ Deaf-friendly stalls and small businesses

…and so much more!

The festival began in 2017 with just 12 people and grew steadily each year. After a break during COVID, we returned in 2022 with over 200 attendees—what a comeback!

We’re excited to continue growing this festival, bringing people together to celebrate community, culture, and connection.
